This is supervisory work in planning, organizing and supervising the collection and disposal of single and multi-family and ICI solid waste and recycling and/or general services. Schedules, coordinates and directs manpower and equipment; processes a variety of requests and complaints from the public; responds to emergency calls during off-shift hours. Determines priorities, organizes workload, establishes work norms and devises safe work methods. Maintains a variety of records and reports for operational, billing, costing, and budget purposes, including, but not limited to, inventory, condition and replacement of containers and equipment. Plans, organizes and leads special projects at the direction of a superior. Participates in the recruitment process and provides orientation and training to employees. Provides leadership and guidance to employees including coaching, discipline and performance management. Performs related work as required.

Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses or training related to the work plus considerable related experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, procedures, materials, tools and equipment used in recycling, collection and processing; of related policies, rules and regulations; of the applicable hazards and of safety precautions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Drivers Licence for the Province of British Columbia, Class 3 with air endorsement, is required.
