Main Purpose and Function
The Sewer Design Branch has an obligation to eliminate combined sewer overflows (CSOs) by 2050. In addition, climate change, population growth, and an increased interest in clean water and renewable energy impact the design and operation of the Citys sewer and stormwater systems. This Policy and Planning Engineer position will work in a team to develop the policies and plans to eliminate combined sewer overflows (CSOs) by 2050 and to develop stormwater and sanitary plans to adapt to varying demands and objectives.

To deliver on the Citys mandate, the Policy and Planning Engineer will need to multitask effectively, think soundly, and use their engineering judgment to provide engineered solutions to complex policy problems. Communicating complex problems to decision makers and the public is a key component of the role.
