The City of White Rock is a unique, ocean-side community of 20,000 citizens known for its sunny weather, expansive beach, historic pier, delightful restaurants, and sense of community. The City is located half an hour south of Vancouver on the shore of Semiahmoo Bay. This is an exciting time for The City as they are experiencing unprecedented growth and development with some major capital projects underway and in the works. This creates an exciting opportunity for an innovative and technically savvy engineering leader to make a meaningful impact on urban growth and development while having the support of a dedicated and collaborative staff complement.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and as a valued member of the Senior Management team, you will provide leadership to all functions within the department including professional services for Engineering, Parks, Facilities, Public works which includes Fleet and Solid Waste, tree management on City lands, water and sewer operations, and the operation of the Water Utility. You will be responsible for providing strategic direction, annual work plans and financial planning for the department as well as the planning, coordination and supervision of department activities. You will work closely with contractors, consultants, developers, public utility and business representatives, government officials and the public. This position is the Citys staff liaison with the Environmental Advisory Committee and the White Rock Harbour Board.

The successful candidate for this position is a visionary leader with demonstrated strengths in strategic thinking and communication including articulating the long term vision for municipal infrastructure and strong report writing skills. You possess an open, team-oriented collaborative leadership style and welcome the challenge of seeking continuous improvements in organizational efficiency. It is essential that you are able to develop and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of internal and external customers and that you are able to demonstrate you bring a distinguished customer service philosophy. You are respected for your ability to gain commitment on municipal priorities and recognized for your positive corporate contribution. You have proven success collaborating with elected boards or city councils.

Your qualifications include being a Professional Engineer, supplemented by a minimum of ten years progressively responsible managerial experience, including experience in a senior management role and effectively working with council.
