The City of Burnabys Information Technology Department is looking for an experienced senior manager to assist the Chief Information Officer in the acquisition, development, implementation and operational support of all business and citizen facing software applications. The Deputy DirectorBusiness Solutions & Support works in partnership with senior managers in the Program Delivery and Infrastructure divisions to ensure business solutions are designed, implemented and managed to address the needs of City departments and citizens. The Deputy Director is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of a diverse business applications environment which includes SAP, commercial-off-the-shelf packages, web/portal, and legacy systems. The role includes strategic planning, technology leadership, business partnerships and management of the Business Solutions & Support division to provide a range of services including enterprise architecture, project planning and initiation, implementation and integration, ongoing sustainment and support.

The Deputy Director will work both independently and in collaboration with other IT divisions and key departments to deliver quality products and services across the City with minimal disruption to day-to-day business processes. This role also plans, directs and manages the work of professional, functional, technical and security resources engaged in the design, implementation and support of business solutions.

The ideal candidate for this role has a background in managing a large applications development and support organization with experience in the implementation and integration of complex, multi-year, multi-phase projects including ERP (SAP), GIS and commercial-off-the-shelf packages. You have a proven track record of optimizing business processes and enhancing citizen/customer service and engagement through the delivery of effective software solutions. You are pragmatic and able to negotiate successful outcomes with diverse stakeholder groups.

A university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field is required with a minimum of five to seven years of recent related experience at the senior management level ideally in municipal government; or a Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Public Administration and a minimum of three to five years of recent related management experience in a similar complex technical environment with the same scope of responsibilities. Certification in project management, process engineering, IT service management or software development lifecycle methodologies and proven experience with an enterprise resource planning platform such as SAP is highly desirable.
