Main Purpose and Function
The Civil Engineer II in the Development Services Branch will be responsible for administering the development portfolio from a utility servicing perspective through tracking, reviewing, facilitating, and escalating issues as required to ensure efficient application processing. The position will also provide leadership, training and engineering expertise to a team responsible for ensuring divisional policies, plans and requirements are secured, designed and implemented as part of development applications.

This position will provide leadership, forward thinking and engineering expertise related to the application of integrated water management principles and resilient utility servicing through the development process. Working closely with the Sewer, Water and Green Infrastructure Branches, the position will contribute to the Citys efforts to meet its Greenest City by 2020, elimination of combined sewer overflows by 2050 and Rain City Strategy objectives around water quality, resilience and livability, through private property developments. The role will support the Citys efforts to be a leader in clean water, water conservation, green buildings, access to nature in the urban environment, fostering a green economy and building a resilient city in the face of a changing climate.

The position will work closely with the technical representatives in the Sewer, Water and Green Infrastructure Branches and liaise with stakeholders including other City departments, the development industry, consultants and architects.
