Reporting to the Recreation Complex Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervisory, operational, and technical work involving building and equipment, operations, maintenance and repair, and janitorial tasks at Bonsor Recreation Complex. An incumbent of a position in this class plans, assigns, supervises, and participates in the work of a group of subordinates engaged in building and equipment routine maintenance and minor repair, operational, and janitorial tasks. The work involves inspecting the facility and equipment to ensure operational requirements are met in order to identify potential problems and implement corrective action, within established guidelines; identifying and recommending plant modifications or equipment additions that will improve operations; developing, implementing, and maintaining preventive maintenance schedules; obtaining the services of private contractors to perform minor repairs and, within established guidelines, purchasing required materials and supplies. An incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgement and action in performing the work, including rearranging work priorities to accommodate emergency situations. The more complex problems, need for major repairs, or system changes are discussed with a superior who reviews work performance in terms of attainment of desired objectives, effectiveness of services provided, and conformance to established practices and procedures. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by related technical courses, plus considerable related experience including some supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the regulations and operating principles of water heating equipment and the methods, practices, materials, and tools used in the operation and maintenance and repair of swimming pools and related stationary equipment; of pool mechanical, filtration, and disinfection technologies; and of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in building maintenance, repair, and janitorial work. Sound knowledge of the functions and operations of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment and related systems. Working knowledge of the functions and operations of plumbing and electrical systems within the facilities serviced. Ability to assign, supervise, schedule, evaluate and participate in the work of, and to train subordinates engaged in building and equipment maintenance and repair, operational, custodial, and janitorial tasks; to monitor and maintain satisfactory standards of service in work performed by subordinates; to perform applicable operational, maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair duties and to work with minimal supervision; to develop, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance schedules and related procedures; to identify causes of equipment breakdown and identify potential problems; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; and to prepare and maintain related records. Pool Operators CertificateLevel 1 and Level 2, and Drivers Licence for the Province of British Columbia are required.

Schedule; 70 hours bi-weekly:Monday - Friday; 7:00 am - 3:00pm.
