Main Purpose and Function
Under the supervision of the Park Boards Environmental Stewardship Coordinator and a Planner II, this position will provide an excellent opportunity for an individual to work amongst a highly-motivated parks planning team of landscape architects, planners and biologists. The Ambassadors role will be to encourage and support respectful and compliant use of OLAs through on-the-ground education and invitation to participate in engagement and stewardship activities. As outlined in the Park Boards People, Parks and Dogs Strategy, stewardship is a key to the success of existing and new OLAs. The Ambassador will engage residents in key OLAs across the City where updates to infrastructure require a public education component; as well, the Ambassador will work with OLA users to formalize their role in long-term OLA stewardship.

This role will contribute to advancing on-the-ground stewardship priorities in the People, Parks and Dogs Strategy and should contribute to the knowledge and experience of the student. The position will be based in our offices at 2099 Beach Avenue overlooking English Bay Beach in Stanley Park, but include considerable field work and contact with City-wide Parks staff and the general public.
