The City of Coquitlam is the sixth largest city in B.C. with home to more than 140,000 residents. Our brand is built on managing our resources in a responsible and sustainable manner while supporting a vibrant, growing regional urban centre.

The City of Coquitlam is currently seeking Program Leaders to work with children and youth; provide leadership and facilitate play in an outdoor free playenvironment; and and other programs and activities as assigned by a coordinator; provide guidance to volunteers, engage with parents and caregivers; as well as responsibility for the safe and proper use of facilities and equipment. You will have experience instructing various ages in different settings, be a team player, flexible, organized and able to work independently.

Preferred candidates will have experience in at least one of the following: 1) Adventure playgrounds and/or environments involving risk assessment such as climbing, 2) Recreational camps or programs; 3) Outdoor recreation and activities such as nature camps, scout groups, camping and wilderness skills. Related certifications such as High Five and/or National Coaching Certification Program are considered an asset. You must possess a current first aid and CPR certificate by the closing date of this competition.

Individuals who are selected to participate in the recruitment process will be asked to supply proof of the required certification and will be required to complete a Criminal Record Search.

Canada Summer Jobs Grant Position Eligibility: Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment, registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year, must intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year, be available between June 18, 2018 and August 31, 2018.

Candidates must be able to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings and weekends, between June and September 2018. Scheduled shifts will consist of a Tuesday to Saturday or a Sunday to Thursday schedule with hours between 9:00am-7:30pm.

The CUPE hourly rate of $21.24 - $24.81 is offered, plus 12% in lieu of benefits is offered.
