Program Coordinator - Health and Fitness

The West Vancouver Parks, Culture & Community Services Department has an opening for a Permanent Fulltime Program CoordinatorHealth and Fitness at the Gleneagles Community Centre.

Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor - Health and Fitness, this position will be responsible for the provision and instruction of community group exercise and indoor cycling classes, rehabilitation exercise programs, mindbody, yoga and pilates programs, as well as personal training, weight room operations, health and wellness initiatives, partnership programs and special events.

The preferred candidate will possess: strong leadership, budgetary, organizational, communication and customer service skills; previous experience and proven success in exemplary teaching methods and group leadership techniques related to fitness and mind-body instruction; sound knowledge of fitness facilities and equipment required for a wide range of physical abilities and age groups; a knowledge of the fitness and health needs, trends, interests, requirements, and resources of the community; familiarity with the philosophy, principles, practices, and objectives of community recreation. Knowledge in older adult programs and rehabilitation exercise programs is required.

The successful candidate has completed a University Degree with courses in Kinesiology or related subjects or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Required certification includes: related BCRPA certification including current Supervisor of Fitness Leaders; current CPR-C and Standard First Aid; and a valid BC Drivers License and access to a vehicle. Working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, JDE, Class and Active Net software is required.

The successful candidate is required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.
