Main Purpose & Function
The City of Vancouver has established an Arbutus Greenway Project Office to implement the Arbutus Greenway Project to upgrade certain parts of the passage into a public transportation corridor and greenway. The Arbutus Corridor represents 42 acres of open space running approximately 9 kilometers from Milton Street to 1st Avenue. When complete, the Arbutus Greenway will allow Vancouver residents to walk or cycle continuously from Marpole in South Vancouver to False Creek. The greenway will be a great benefit to the City and a major tourism attraction. This position will primarily: 1) provide Engineering technical design input, review, studies, analysis, and advice for the street design component (Three-dimensional road design, construction design, construction detailing) of the Arbutus Greenway projects and, 2) act as or provide technical design oversight acting for the Engineer of Record in accordance with APEGBC OQM procedures for selected streets design projects as required, and, 3) review externally
designed civil engineering design packages as required.

Other responsibilities may include representing Streets Design in design and planning work, such as supporting review of the City-wide Development Cost Levy; completing analysis and developing recommendations around streets infrastructure; developing, compiling, and analyzing departmental metrics; managing street and transportation related studies, designs and/or construction projects; developing standard design details or specifications; and, other duties as assigned.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
The Streets Design Civil Engineer I works within both cohesive teams in the Streets and Electrical Design Branch and the Arbutus Greenway Project Office in carrying out duties and responsibilities.
