Main Purpose & Function
Working as part of a multidisciplinary transportation planning, engineering, and engagement team this position is responsible for supporting transportation analysis work related to the City of Vancouver Transportation 2040 Implementation Strategy. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of statistical analysis, including the design and implementation of statistical surveys, data analysis, and research. The ability to interpret data and draw sound conclusions, define and track metrics, and develop or use predictive models to make forecast through the application of transportation planning and engineering best practices is an asset.

Familiarity with the Citys street systems, transportation policies and regulations paired with experience working with large scale transportation planning and transportation projects is preferred.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work independently within defined deadlines, performing research, statistical surveys and analysis related to transportation statistics, including walking and cycling infrastructure conceptual designs and how they may contribute towards the implementation of Transportation 2040. Working under minimal supervision the EA III will create, maintain and enhance databases and web pages, collect transportation and land use data from a variety of internal and external sources to help prioritize current and emerging transportation projects while involving, liaising and coordinating with a wide variety of departments, including the Planning Department, Projects and Development Services and Sustainability. The EA III will prepare geometric designs using AutoCAD, as well as other base maps, and graphical work to assist in completing and prioritizing the implementation strategy.

Additional duties include organizing transportation analysis infographics and participating in public engagement processes, including attendance at various weekend and evening meetings and workshops. Performing field observations and technical duties including pedestrian, cyclist, transit, goods movement, and vehicle traffic studies to forecast, analyze and set City standards.

Acting as a liaison with the residential and business communities, the successful candidate will be responsible for responding to transportation planning related public inquiries both verbally and in writing, while managing consultant contracts, proposal writing and troubleshooting as required.
