Building Division Inspector Mentorship Programs

The Planning and Development Department has established one-year temporary programs for Building Inspectors and Plumbing Inspectors. This is designed to allow a successful candidate that is not fully qualified to learn the duties of an Inspector with the City of Surrey. The programs structure consists of 4 modules over the course of the year. During each module, the selected candidates performance will be monitored daily and reviewed on a regular basis. Those candidates that successfully complete the programs in the prescribed time will be recognized as qualified candidates for Plumbing and Building Inspectorvacancies that may arise within the Building Division.

Building Inspector 1Mentorship Program
This mentorship opportunity will develop the selected candidates skills for inspection and regulatory work involving building design and construction in the context of the requirements of the BC Building Code, Surrey Building By-law and Zoning By-law, as well as other applicable enactments.
